Bjersig Torrsen is venture-captain of the Iceferry Lodge in Kalsgard, in the western Lands of the Linnorm Kings. As a dromaar who is unable to hear, he relies on his howling husky dog Mahki to serve as his ears and supplements his speech with Pathfinder hand signals.123 He is a renowned scholar who personally catalogs his agents' discoveries.45

Appearance

Torrsen is a slender dromaar man about six-and-a-half feet tall, with black hair tied back into a ponytail and a beard braided to three points. His dog Mahki is a black and white husky who wears a harness featuring the Pathfinder Society's symbol.12645

Relatives

Torrsen's father was a jarl of Linnorm King Sveinn Blood-Eagle who accompanied his king to Valenhall in 4719 AR, and his dromaar mother Torrsa Brightlaugh is an Pathfinder agent who left on an expedition in 4718 AR. He has seen neither of them since their departure, though he suspects his mother's raven animal companion Rainwing might occasionally return to check on the lodge.45

Associates

Lirall, a gnome Pathfinder, works with Torrsen as a scribe, greeter, assistant, and if necessary an interpreter for Torrsen.12345

Background

Torrsen has been deaf since birth2 and was raised orally; despite his lack of hearing, he can speak clearly in a quiet baritone voice and read lips expertly, but prefers to communicate using Napsu-Sign language with elements of Ulfen sign language. He incorporates his deafness into his life and does not view it as a disability.145

During a visit to Absalom, Torrsen impressed a Thuvian Pathfinder who mistook him for a page by disproving their thesis on magical bird migration patterns, while citing nearly a century of references from memory.45

Possessions

As a skilled outdoorsman in the wintry Lands of the Linnorm Kings, Torrsen prefers practical, warm, lightweight gear and avoids heavy metal armor. He has broad training in axes, bows, and swords, but prefers the versatile long reach of a bastard sword.45
