"House Stavian"
I could find only one canon source that uses the term "House Stavian" to refer to the Stavians: an image caption "SEAL OF THE GRAND THRONE OF HOUSE STAVIAN" in Monsters of Myth 32 that instead depicts the reversed crown-and-lion seal of Taldor. The text of Monsters of Myth itself does not use the term, and neither does any work on Taldor, nor the Tomb of the Iron Medusa or War for the Crown Pathfinder Adventure Path that go into significant detail into the line of Grand Princes beginning with Stavian I.
Grand Princes of Taldor in general are not associated with specific noble houses in canon works, presumably because the Primogen Crown's passage was via the bloodline of Taldaris, and primarily via agnatic primogeniture, until Eutropia Stavian and the War for the Crown; the crown, the line of Taldaris, and Taldor itself were the royals' "noble house".
This article and category exist out of a lack of means to otherwise describe the Stavians as a unit after the revelations about Stavian I's illegitimacy from Tomb of the Iron Medusa were made canon as public knowledge in the War for the Crown AP. They exist in a gray area between nobility, royalty, and illegitimacy, and as such are thoroughly and exceptionally Taldan; wiki policies and guidelines might not cleanly apply to them. -Oznogon (talk) 18:12, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- For whatever it's worth: War for the Crown and Inner Sea Taverns seem to consistently and generically refer to them as simply "the Stavian family". -Oznogon (talk) 18:23, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
