Dtang language
Paizo referred to Tang Mai as Dtang Ma until the publication of Tian Xia Days and the Tian Xia World Guide. The Tang language was also correspondingly renamed from Dtang in Tian Xia World Guide. -Oznogon (talk) 19:52, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
Shadowtongue
The following canon details were removed from the article due to a canon clarification by James Jacobs1 that suggests the 1E origins of the language were retroactively deemed non-canon by the publication of the Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rulebook. (The Core Rulebook itself does not provide this level of context, nor do the Glossary and Index entries for the language nor the Nidalese ethnicity descriptions in works such as Ancestry Guide or GM Core.)
- Spoken with any frequency only in the shadowy country of Nidal, it is used for ceremonial purposes and to keep outsiders from eavesdropping.23 Shadowtongue is a mix of Taldane, Infernal, and Azlanti.4

- ↑ "That quote is a few decades old and needs clarification. In 2nd edition, Shadowtongue is the 'common language' of the Netherworld, similar to how Chthonian is the language of the Outer Rifts and demons, or Thalassic is the language of water creatures. It's MUCH older than Nidal, and even older than Azlant, and having it be a mix of Taldane, Infernal, and Azlanti makes it feel simultaneously too recent and too tied to Hell (which, in 1st edition, there were more links due to how we moved D&D's kytons out of hell and into the plane of shadow to sync up with Zon-Kuthon's story). With 2nd edition, and particularly now that we're into the remastered era, Shadowtongue is not a stealth add-on language to the setting, but a core language found in the core rulebook. It's the native language of Nidal because of their thousands of years of assocaition with the Netherworld and Zon-Kuthon." James Jacobs. (January 31, 2025).
