Retcon

The Nirvana dragon only exists in one single piece of art which has indeed become Apsu's official picture. As stated here, the idea has been abandoned by Paizo, and the page should probably redirect to the planar dragon corresponding to Nirvana when that dragon becomes a thing. - HTD (talk) 10:57, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

This is an interesting find HTD: thank you. Certainly, the dragon should go from the template as it is not canon. I can add the art to Apsu too, which is nice. We really should also delete the page Nirvana dragon too. I'll tidy this all up now. However, to the general point, a quick reference as to why the deletion is made is useful for us editors to check its validity quickly, (in this case to James' comment) rather than having to hunt down why a deletion has been made / just reverse the deletion. Plus we can help tidy up around the deletion too - to ensure the rest of the wiki is consistent. This is my request for future deletions please. -Fleanetha (talk) 18:31, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

The idea of a "Nirvana dragon" is indeed something we abandoned with the switch from 3.5 to Pathfinder. The illustration in the first hardcover was never labeled—the implication was that it was of the Nirvana dragon since it was on the same spread of pages that mentioned it, but it's now officially the true form of Apsu.

Per the new policy on canon changes, I've removed the redirect and replaced it with a notice banner pointing here. The redirect also caused reported confusion about an implied relationship between nirvana dragons and Apsu that didn't exist, and the reasoning for the redirect was not present on the target. -Oznogon (talk) 05:35, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
