Salt water

Source: Merchant's Manifest, pg(s). 6

Siphon rays are used because of the symbiotic, parasitic relationship they form with the creature they attach to.1

Appearance

Siphon rays look like smaller versions of the stingray, being about the size of a human hand.1

Abilities

When a siphon ray is attached to a host, it takes nutrients directly from the blood of the host creature, but it also adds oxygen back into that blood. This arrangement allows the host to hold their breath for twice as long as usual, however, it can cause them to tire more quickly.1

Ecology

The ray relies on being in salt water: it will die if it is kept out of salt water for over an hour.1

Known examples

Siphon rays are sold in Aelyosos as gear to help when the flood waters come in, or when adventurers decide to explore underwater.1
