The Azlanti Diamond is a mythical diamond-bladed sword said to have been crafted, and then wielded, by the then-mortal swordsmith Aroden.1

History

Originally made on the behest of the last Azlanti emperor to be given to their successor, Aroden decided none of the candidates were worthy and kept the sword for himself. Some scholars claim this act inspired the alghollthu masters of Azlant to cause Earthfall in -5293 AR.12

In the ensuing destruction Aroden used the sword to lead Azlanti refugees to safety in the eastern mountaintop—and now island—refuge of Merhuretz. Aroden battled the place's fey with the Diamond alongside the Azlanti refugees and prepared the location for their eventual journey across the Arcadian Ocean to Avistan.3

After raising the Starstone in 1 AR, Aroden crafted a replica of the Azlanti Diamond dubbed the Kortos Diamond, which he intended to leave to a mortal defender of the Isle of Kortos.1

Reenactors portray Aroden and Voradni Voon during the Passion of the First Siege of Absalom.

In 23 AR, Aroden defended Absalom from an invasion from the minotaur warlord Voradni Voon. The First Siege of Absalom ended with Aroden killing Voon with the Azlanti Diamond.4

The location of the Azlanti Diamond has yet to be confirmed.1 One possible site of the sword is the lost underground shrine of the Sanctum of Aroden beneath Absalom, which was sealed off soon after Aroden's death and its precise location subsequently forgotten.5

Appearance

Based on the purported appearance of the Kortos Diamond as a replica, the sword might be four feet long with a blade crafted from a single solid diamond.1
