Amatatsu Maemi is a former Empress of Minkai who now exists as a gylou devil trapped in the Well of Demons.

Appearance

Maemi appears as she did in life, a beautiful Tian-Min woman clad in an empress' regalia, except for her clearly-visible head tentacles. She sits on an illusory replica of the Jade Throne.

Associates

In life, Empress Maemi eschewed the company of men, so she never had a child and was succeeded by a cousin. Since becoming a devil, she continued that trend, taking the shiko me Shiori Heikkaki as a bodyguard and lover. She also has support of an entire erinyes aerie, who guard her lair.

Background

Maemi ruled Minkai for more than two centuries, after having sold her soul to Hell in exchange for beauty and longevity. When she finally died, the devils accepted her into their ranks according to their contract, transforming her into a gylou. She has since planned to return to Kasai and retake the Jade Throne for her own selfish pursuits, but is currently locked in a power struggle against the nalfeshnee and former Shogun Teikoku Sokai and his demon minions in the Well of Demons.
