The Garnet Brand is a powerful artifact in the form of a garnet permanently ensconced in a cloud of steam. The Brand imprisoned the essence of the defeated Atreia, elemental lord of fire, for eons.✝ Atreia was released in recent years, and the fate of the Garnet Brand since his release is unknown.

History

Atreia often battled with Ymeri, his rival elemental lord of fire, in violent conflicts that left the other elemental planes scorched and damaged. Ymeri and the other evil-aligned elemental lords eventually defeated their good counterparts and imprisoned them in gemstones for eons. The Lambent Court, a group of peris allied with Atreia, dispatched mortals in search of the Garnet Brand with the hopes of freeing Lord Atreia.

Atreia does not know how or why he was freed from the Garnet Brand.

Associated artifacts

There were three other artifacts that entrapped beneficent elemental lords defeated by their evil counterparts: the Gasping Pearl, the Moaning Diamond, and the Untouchable Opal.
