Hell hounds are cruel, intelligent hunters, particularly dangerous in packs. They are tireless trackers. Fire giants are natural allies, at least until the giant makes the mistake of treating the hell hound as a pet.[1]

Small knights who revere Asmodeus or another archdevil can use hell hounds as mounts.[2]

Disturbingly, there is a process by which common dogs can be slowly transformed into hell hounds. By feeding the animal a diet of tiefling blood and sinister alchemical supplements, the hound slowly becomes more vicious as it gains fiendish qualities.[3]
