Tunche
Tunches are massive and bizarre jungle-dwelling fey amalgams of jungle plants, animals, and insects.1[citation needed]
Appearance
While many fey creature from the First World are prototypes of beings later created for the Universe,2 a tunche resembles no known creature. Reaching more than 20 feet in height, a tunche stands atop three long legs that end in cat-like claws, but more closely resembles vines the higher up the leg one looks. Its body is a vast mass of plant matter that most closely resembles its home jungle's undergrowth, while its head is a terrifying mix of exotic jungle orchid and monstrous arachnid. Four mantis-like claws sprout from its body, each ending in a sharp chitinous blade.1[citation needed]
Habitat
Tunches consider themselves to be the ultimate protectors of the jungles they live in. They prowl the most lush and vibrant reaches of the jungle while confronting any they consider to be despoilers of its depths. Their fey magic gives them incredible control of the plants in their surroundings, which enables them to entangle their foes, move instantly between trees, grow impenetrable walls of thorns, and manipulate plant life as they see fit.1[citation needed]
Ecology
While tunches resemble a combination of plant and animal, they are neither and are not affected by spells designed to target either type of creature. Tunches observe intruders to determine whether they treat the jungles they live in and protect with due deference, and if they do they either allow the travelers to pass unnoticed or appear and demand a small tribute for venturing into their home. Those that a tunche views as despoilers, however, are hunted without mercy. Tunches particularly enjoy toying with their victims by using their mastery of plant magic to confuse and disorient their foes before closing in for the final kill.1[citation needed]
On Golarion
Tunches live in the depths of the forests across the Arcadian nation of Xopatl3 and in the Ravounel Forest of Ravounel.4
In the Great Beyond
In the First World city of Palenhyr, the Bloodsands Arena's array of bloodsports includes an event known as the Tunche Taunt.5
