The Assembly of Kings is an organization composed of the various Mbe'ke kings, who in turn elect the High King of Cloudspire, leader of the Mbe'ke dwarves.1 In Mbe'ke communities, monarchs are elected by their community's Assembly of Speakers rather than inheriting the title, and wield executive power for a decade or two while held accountable to their Assembly. The Assembly of Kings is in turn composed of these Mbe'ke kings, who elect the High King of Cloudspire to serve the Mbe'ke as the ultimate wielder of political authority and war leader.1

History

After the ending of the brutal civil war known as the War of Split Hearts in 3844 AR, the Mbe'ke leaders decided upon a constitutional monarchy as their future form of government. They instituted the Assembly of Kings in the same year to elect the High King of Cloudspire.23

Building

The Assembly of Kings meets in a large amphitheater of the same name in Cloudspire.4

Recent history

In 4721 AR, the Assembly of Kings spent much of its time debating the Corsair Wars,4 as the Third Corsair War dragged on and looked set to become the bloodiest yet.5 Some members of the Assembly of Kings, such as King Moshjele, thought negotiating with the Shackles Pirates was the best solution, while others like King Thabsing Blood-Eye thought that only absolute war would end the conflict. Additionally, Mage-King Khawu proposed using the magic of the Celestial Fellowship to shift the Eye of Abendego south to ravage the Shackles.4

During that year, the High King was Lek'sanji, a candidate inoffensive to most members of the Assembly of Kings who had found himself overwhelmed by the challenges of ruling during a war.4
