Sentience
(Redirected from Sentient)
Sentience is a being's ability to experience feelings, primal emotions, and sensations. It does not necessarily include self-awareness or rational thought, which are the domain of sapience.1 Metaphysical academics of the four essences theory consider sentience to be primarily the domain of vital essence, which governs a being's instinctual and primal senses and actions.2
