The Shadow Tongue Temple is one of Quain's Four Great Sects and the most dreaded of the night bat martial sects. It receives a surge of cultivation ability in winter.

Goals

Practitioners of the Shadow Tongue Temple see pain, fear, and misdirection as the most potent weapons against evil. Their techniques largely focus on mastering pain and inflicting it on others. Like other night bat sects, they become active at night, working best in the darkness with the goal of terrorizing their enemies.

Structure

The initiation ritual involves splitting one's own tongue without numbing agents. The few initiates who endure this ritual have their own blood turned into unique facial markings. The temple's followers, called apostates, dress in sleek black robes and paint their faces white with rice paste. Apostates signify rank and purpose with spots of vermilion on their jaws and cheeks.

The head of the temple is grandmaster Wu Ku, a tall human slayer who has sworn to inflict a wound on herself for every life taken.
