Velociraptor
A velociraptor is a small, swift pack-hunting dinosaur with a leaping charge. Like the deinonychus, velociraptors are dromaeosaurs.12
Appearance
A velociraptor has feathery plumage from its head to its tail, including all of its limbs; scales cover its belly and flanks. The feathers help the creature blend in with its local terrain, but when it is scared, the plumage puffs up to show hidden brightly colored feathers, whch can also be used in mating rituals.32
A velociraptor is around one-and-a-half feet tall and seven feet long, and weighs 35 pounds.42
Habitat and ecology
Velociraptors are social animals, and live in packs of up to a dozen of their kind.3 Velociraptors are quick and clever pack hunters that do not fear larger creatures and will hunt and kill creatures the size of a horse as a group.32 Velociraptors are good at jumping, incorporating it into how they attack. Velociraptors and deinonychuses are distantly related to birds, and like them they collect shiny treasure for their nests.56 They are also known to be great trackers when tamed or domesticated.7
