Ankylosaurus
(Creature)

The ankylosaurus is a huge squat dinosaur covered in thick bony plates and spikes.12 They live alone, in pairs, or in herds of up to a dozen creatures.3[citation needed]

They are herbivores but tend to stand their ground when threatened and ill tempered with any trespassers. In combat, an ankylosaurus uses the bony end of its powerful tail as a club. If it flees, smaller creatures in their path are likely to be trampled.12 The bony and spiked hide of a ankylosaurus gives it a small number of natural predator as it discourages larger creatures from biting it.12

A typical specimen is 30 feet long, 10 feet wide and weighs 6,000 pounds (3 tons).12

Variants

ankylosauruses are the biggest of the heavily armored dinosaur family called ankylosaurids, like with with smaller and weaker species like the pinacosaurus at 16-foot long. Ankylosaurids ussaly have muted skin colors mixed with black, brown, and gray.1

Society

In captivity, scales may be painted bright colors to dispaly it as an owner.1

On distant worlds

Ankylosaurs were among the specimens collected from the planet Castrovel by the Androffan spaceship Divinity before it crashed into Golarion during the Rain of Stars. The creatures were kept in a stasis lab in Habitat Pod 1 as part of a larger collection of Castrovelian life forms.4
