Agohbindi the Splintering Child is a Lesser Spawn of Rovagug that was active in the time of Old-Mage Jatembe and the Ten Magic Warriors.1 Legends tell that it was defeated by Old-Mage Jatembe,1 Azure Leopard,2 and the Tempest-Sun Mages.32

A disease in the Agoyben Forest known as splitting sickness is believed by some scholars of the Magaambya to be associated with the Splintering Child, as is the fever tree-shattering phenomenon13 known as Crackling Tree.1

Appearance

Agohbindi has been described as a gargantuan creature with a beetle's carapace and fiendish maw, with pincers large enough to crush entire city blocks.2

Abilities

The Splintering Child can divide itself into smaller identical beings when harmed.2

History

Legends suggest that Jatembe, Azure Leopard, and more than 100 Tempest-Sun Mages battled for days Agohbindi after it emerged from the Vanji River near Nantambu, with Jatembe and his disciple attempting to protect the mages and warding the city from Agohbindi's advances. Upon realizing that Agohbindi could not be destroyed, Jatembe and Azure Leopard entrapped the remnants of Agohbindi in the roots of trees near the Vanji River and liquefied them with magical fire and lightning.2

The roots bound Agohbindi to the soil, and Jatembe's magic turned the afflicted trees binding the Spawn of Rovagug golden in color, to further taunt the trapped beast by making its trap more beautiful.2
