Ayyarad is a satrapy of the Padishah Empire of Kelesh located in Casmaron.

Geography

Ayyarad is a land of vacant, unforgiving deserts. The lands of Karazh border and separate it from the rest of Kelesh.

History

Ancestors of the Althameri tribes fled the Grass Sea in -4983 AR in order to avoid retribution for a since-forgotten act. By -4583 AR, some of these tribes settled in the deserts now known as Ayyarad.

The lands were vacant except for monsters, demon lords, and other evil beings, and the desert environment also proved hostile to settlement. After enduring these trials for centuries, a tribal leader challenged the sun itself to explain how it could impassively watch their people suffer. Sarenrae, goddess of the sun, responded, and the Althameri peoples have since remained devout followers of the Dawnflower.

Recent events

After the death of Gorum in 4724 AR, escalating conflicts in Karazh drove raiders and refugees alike into Ayyarad and other bordering lands, such as Kaskkari and Zelshabbar.

Government

As a satrapy of Kelesh, Ayyarad is considered part of the empire. All military conscripts of Kelesh, including non-combatants, are trained in basic combat and survival methods in Ayyarad's deserts.
