(Creature)

Devoted to beauty and the arts, kanyas1—also known as lillends (pronounced LIHL-ehnd)23 or muse azatas13—are azatas of the plane of Elysium.4 They are sometimes associated with the goddess Shelyn.5

Appearance

A kanya's torso resembles that of a winged humanoid, while the rest of their body resembles a serpent's.31

Abilities

Kanyas can speak Draconic, Diabolic, Empyrean, and Common tongues, as well as use truespeech. They can speak or make sounds to override anything that tries to control or prevent them from free expression.31

Society

Kanyas enjoy inspiring the creative works of mortals, and sometimes secretly follow and record the deeds of mortal adventurers in order to retell them as epic poems and songs in Elysium. However, should the subject of their tales face death, the kanya following them often intercedes, even if it means the end of their chronicles.31
