Nanite
A nanite is a type of microscopic, nanotechnological device capable of reproducing or achieving many effects of nature or magic, from diseases to weapons to new forms of life.1 Many nanites are programmable,2 and some large groups of nanites are capable of a form of autonomous intelligence.34
Nanites are instrumental in every stage of an android's life: nanites assemble androids in foundries,5 serve a function in android bodies similar to the blood of organic creatures,6789 power androids' ability to achieve superhuman feats through nanite surges,1089 and rejuvenate their bodies after their souls vacate them.1112 Nanites are even part of androids that become incorporeal undead, becoming a sort of phantom form of the living android's nanite system.13
Nanites can be repelled through magnetic fields.14
Types
Harmful nanites might cause infestations, such as fractal etch and soldier's peace.1 However, benign nanites that retain their original programming are capable of bringing great benefits. For instance, harvest nanites enhance crop production and eliminate pests and diseases, medical nanites enter host bodies to exterminate invasive organisms, crafter nanites build objects and potentially shape flesh.15
Applications
Due to being programmable microscopic machines, nanites can accomplish many tasks that are otherwise impossible without magic, such as mapping a creature's brain functions19 or automatically healing or repairing flesh and machine alike.20

Bloodline
- See also: Bloodline
An android sorcerer, or a sorcerer descended from a person infected with nanites, might be able to incorporate nanites in their practice of arcane magic, treating them as other sorcerers would treat a supernatural bloodline.31
On Golarion
The nanites that remain from the Rain of Stars are often found in canisters, which are designed to work with many of the Androffan devices scattered across Numeria. Such canisters have integrated power supplies that activate the nanites when used.25
On distant worlds
Autonomous nanite swarms are among the many forms of life in Liavara's rings.32
