Hillhome is the surface name of an independent and reclusive underground settlement of kovintus located beneath the northeastern foothills of the Five Kings Mountains and northwestern Verduran Forest. Its true name is known only to its kovintus.

Geography

The entrance to Hillhome is a circle of standing stones located in the foothills' forests and frequently concealed by thick fog. Performing a ritual on the site opens the center of the circle into a series of shallow but sturdy geomantically carved tunnels beneath the forests and hills. Many of the hills surrounding its entrance are in fact the roofs of Hillhome's clay and dense soil structures, with nearly imperceptible windows that create twinkling will-o'-wisp-like lights that dot the landscape when lit at night.

Economy

Hillhome's residents are friendly but reclusive, though they maintain a friendly trading relationship with Caldamin, whose residents dubbed the kovintus settlement "Hillhome". Hillhome trades in highly valued crafts, such as intricately detailed miniatures, dice, gaming components, and other sculpture created by their geomantic talents from dirt, stone, or compressed leaves or fur encased in clear quartz. In exchange, Hillhome imports foods that its residents find exotic, particularly highly spicy seasonings and peppers from Caldamin and honey from Bellis.
