Shedus are powerful creatures dedicated to kindness and good who live in Golarion's remote deserts.1[citation needed]

Appearance

A shedu resembles a large bull with the head of a human and bird-like wings. Their visage possesses an inherent nobility, and they radiate strength, kindness, and wisdom.1 They share some features with sphinxes, lammasus, and manticores, though sphinxes consider raising such comparisons to be among the harshest insults against them.2

Habitat and ecology

Shedus dwell amongst the harshest deserts, far from the complex hustle and bustle of civilization. In the depths of deserts, shedus prefer to lair in either dry caves or amongst the ancient ruins of forgotten civilisations, particularly temples, where they contemplate the endless conflict between good and evil.1[citation needed]

Shedus live solitary lives, not out of any dislike for other shedus but because they consider it a waste for multiple shedus to guard the same region. When a shedu does enter another shedu's territory, they seek each other out and spend many days contentedly sharing their wisdom with each other.1[citation needed]

Shedus are creatures of fundamental good, who exhibit patience and kindness, and dedicate themselves tirelessly to the cause of righteousness. They protect benevolent desert societies, particularly by opposing evil outsiders and undead. Shedus also make gifted healers, and many devote themselves to treating the sick and eradicating plagues and diseases.1[citation needed]

On Golarion

In the desert nation of Qadira, shedus protect ancient buildings in the depths of the Meraz Desert.3 Shedus also live Katapesh,4 including the area near Kelmarane.5

A volume of the Pathfinder Chronicles documented statues of crouching shedus, lammasus, sphinxes, and gorgons lining the four miles-long boulevards that led to the Ninshaburian temple complex of Tabsagal in Casmaron.67
