Age of Monsters

The Age of Monsters is a mythical time period of uncounted years used by the people of Tian Xia who follow the Imperial Calendar. Myths of the age represent it as the lands' most ancient times, when kaiju dominated the land, yaoguai warred endlessly with each other, and beings from other planes and planets were numerous. It was followed by the Age of Dragons.

Wars were fought between yaoguai warlords in the north, and between celestials and qlippoth in central Tian Xia. Empires formed in the south from nagaji and nagas from Vudra, and from munsahir fire elementals exiled with their Jade Hegemon from the Plane of Fire.

Reptilian beings from another world called Valashai soon also invaded the south and clashed with the Jade Hegemon, who avoided the war by having his industrious people disassemble their cities and retreat, leaving only the foundations for the Valashai invaders to build upon.
