Prior to Tian Xia World Guide, the Valashai Empire was referred to as "Valashai" or the "Valashmaian Empire".

The Valashai Empire was an empire of cruel alien reptilians known as Valashai that existed in the Valashmai Jungle of southern Tian Xia in the Age of Legend.123

History

The Valashai Empire arose in Tian Xia alongside the disappearance of the antediluvian Jade Hegemon Empire of munsahir,4 but millennia before the first humans arrived to the continent. The Valashai were extraterrestrial conquerors, and due to the Valashmaians' cruelty the Jade Hegemon disassembled the munsahir empire's cities for sierras to the south and left the Valashai with nothing to claim.2

The Valashai built their empire instead on the vacated foundations of the Jade Hegemon Empire,2 but when Earthfall hit, they abandoned Golarion for another planet to rebuild their empire. Stories tell that the reptilian overlords came into conflict with populations of catfolks, lizardfolks, tripkees,5 and vanaras who were aided in their resistance to being taken off-world by munsahirs disturbed by the impacts of Earthfall and the volcanic activity that followed. These survivors followed the munsahirs underground to weather the ravages of the Age of Ashes.6

Valashai culture and learning vanished, but their stone structures remain, hidden in the dangerous reaches of the Valashmai Jungle that owes its name to the ancient empire.1782

People

The Valashai were reptilians who stood three times a human's height. When they arrived on Golarion, they populated the Valashmai Jungle with slaves from a thousand planets, including catfolk, lizardfolk, tripkees, and vanaras, among others. These slaves brought countless strange deities from their homes, and the Valashai paid lip service to these gods to keep their chattels docile. During the turmoil following Valashai's end, the slaves started fighting and breeding with each other, and their mongrelman descendants continue to worship their old gods today.1[outdated]
