Chertel Timber is one of Otari's three lumber companies. It broke off from the Kortos Consortium alongside Whistledown Cutters and relocated to Otari after Maklanni Menhemes finished the construction of the Otari Mill and Otari Flume in 4323 AR, paying her to use her inventions.

Wrab Chertel, the current owner of Chertel Timber and the Chertel Manor, still pays Otari Lumber—Maklanni's family business owned by her descendant Oseph Menhemes—to process their wood at the Otari Mill. However, this partnership may not last much longer as Wrab has grown suspicious of the other two companies.

Chertel Timber has recently been struggling with labor disputes, poor management, and difficulties with financing. While Wrab thinks Otari Lumber and Whistledown Cutters are sabotaging his equipment and lumberjack morale, it's actually the work of Kortos Consortium agents that have secretly infiltrated his company.
