Verdant Akaran (pronounced ah-kah-RAAN)1 is a kaiju of the Valashmai Jungle who guards an ancient, dilapidated temple east of Kashang.2

Appearance

Akaran takes the form of a 200-meter animated sprawl of tangled vines, large sensory bulbs, and lotus mouths.2

Ecology

As Akaran continuously patrols the jungle surrounding the temple, its presence suppresses magic in any spellcasters, magic items, and even the environment itself. Additionally, it secretes a toxin that is fatal to animal and mortal life but harmless to plants. Akaran has been observed spraying this toxin on any flying interlopers encroaching on its territory. Despite its merciless assault on intruders, pilgrims still pass through its territory unharmed.2

History

According to legend, Akaran was created by the temple's god when the sanctum was first sacked. The god animated the jungle itself to punish the culprits of such sacrilege and to permanently protect the temple.2
