Emberen Recess

The Emberen Recess is a volcanic region within the larger Melting Lands of the Plane of Fire that is home to a loose confederation of ancient magma dragons who rule with a tyrannical fierceness.

The Emberen Recess is a rocky region within the Melting Lands mostly surrounded by a sea of lava.

Government

Magma dragons are normally much too volatile to form long-term relationships with others of their kind, but in the Emberen Recess they have banded together for mutual protection. While each of the ancient magma dragons rules over their own domain, a council of ancient dragons makes most of the daily decisions affecting the Recess.

Within their individual domains of the Recess, the eldest magma dragons rule over their younger kin as well as armies of enslaved salamanders and bound fire elementals. The magma dragons use these creatures not only to defend their territory but also to create uniquely spiked, yet magnificent, structures.

Above them all sits Caliniaya, the supreme ruler of the Emberen Recess, who even by the low standards of magma dragons is violently insane. During her lucid periods, however, Caliniaya shows a calculated cunning and shrewd manipulation that is almost as terrifying as her violent fits.

Economy

The Recess' magma dragons use their slaves to work the mines, extracting rare elemental gems from beneath the Emberen Recess. While magma dragons make for violently unstable trading partners, they happily trade these gems for any rare and exotic treasures that catch their fancy.
