Gloaming Arbor was formed when the curious dragon Avathrael, who laired at the site and was fascinated with planar magic, attempted to open a portal to Nirvana in order to draw its beauty into Golarion. However, the portal instead opened to the Netherworld and drew its shadows instead. Avathrael learned to harness and shape the shadows both into their own form and their realm, and in the process transformed their lair and the surrounding area into the Gloaming Arbor. Avathrael began calling themself the Realmshaper as a result.23
Avathrael is a possessive, territorial perfectionist and seeks to transform the Arbor into a demiplane.23
Geography
The Arbor has only one entrance, a one-way stone archway that prevents creatures from leaving once they enter. All other attempts to access the Arbor returns the creature to their point of attempted entry.4
The Arbor is dark, with thick, tangible liquid shadows that drip from leaves and pool on the ground. Paths through the Arbor constantly change. These effects are milder in the Arbor's outer Fringe area but becomes impassibly intense in its inner Heart region, where Avazrael's studio is located.5
