City of Secrets 1

Pathfinder: City of Secrets #1, a comic book written by Jim Zub with art by Leandro Oliveira, was released in May 2014. Cover artists Steven Cummings, Steve Ellis, Genzoman, Carlos Gomez, and Sean Izaakse provided 5 variants to the title's cover. Four additional exclusive covers by Gomez were offered by stores that ordered 500 or more copies of the issue, including paizo.com. Finally, a blank Authentix cover version was available as well.

This issue marks the return of Pathfinder comics after a 5-month hiatus after the end of the Of Tooth and Claw story arc and the publication of the Pathfinder Special 2013 comic. The City of Secrets arc takes place in the city of Magnimar and continues the story where the previous arc left off. The series also includes a new tactical poster map and custom encounter in each issue, a popular feature of the first 6 issues of Pathfinder which were absent in issues #7–12.

Chronology

The events of this comic take place after those of the 'Of Tooth and Claw' story arc. The events described within the previously published 'Pathfinder Special 2013' comic detail what happens to Kyra and Merisiel during a night within the events of this 'Pathfinder: City of Secrets #1' comic.

In-store release event

To celebrate the issue's release, publisher Dynamite Entertainment teamed up with Paizo's network of Paizo Organized Play coordinators to sponsor in-store Pathfinder RPG demonstrations. In addition to offering the encounter included in the issue, the demonstrations include an exclusive scenario that places the player characters in the role of defenders of their comic shop against a goblin attack. Additionally, players had the opportunity to submit their characters to Paizo for inclusion in a special "Heroes of Magnimar" section of the compiled City of Secrets arc, featuring official Pathfinder RPG statistics and character art by one of Dynamite's many artists.
