Elemental
Elementals are creatures from one of the Elemental Planes that are made up completely of one of the elements of air, earth, fire, water, wood, or metal. They do not have physical anatomies or features as most creatures and therefore cannot be stunned, poisoned, or paralysed, and do not breathe, eat, or sleep.1
Primal elementals
Primal elementals, which are composed entirely of one elemental and look roughly humanoid, are the most famous of all elementals. Many of them are named after natural disasters, and are often found in the wake of these disasters.23
The mixing of elements is seen to occur at the borders between the Elemental Planes. At these planar borders elemental creatures might also be created from the secondary elements.4

Other elementals
There are other types of elemental creature, which typically have more defined forms than the primal elementals.
Elemental lords
The most powerful elementals are known as elemental lords and approach or exceed the power of demigods.5
Elemental scamps
Scamps are elemental creatures that resemble bats and are known for their lack of power but mischevious personalities. Their lack of power allows them to be easily summoned by even novice spellcasters, though scamps are often confused by humanoids and respond to such summons with rapidly escalating pranks.6
Wisps
Wisps are tiny spherical elemental beings, each corresponding to an element. They are playful creatures whose personalities reflect their elemental plane of origin and often taken by spellcasters as familiars.7
Elemental fauna
Some elementals look and behave like animals from the Universe, despite their lack of animalistic instincts like eating and reproducing. Known as elemental fauna, they tend to be favoured by conjurers due to their small size, ease of summoning, and varied abilities.89
Civilised elementals
Some elementals have cultures and personalities of their own that distinguish them from their simple cousins. These so-called civilised elementals often live alongside genies or in large settlements.10
Monstrous elementals
More than simple incarnations of the elements, some elementals have complex ecologies and societies, and can often be found on the Universe in addition to their native plane.11
On Golarion
Osirion
Elementals are associated with the deserts of Osirion.
Khemet I's alliance with the country's elder elementals was a key factor in his ability to gain the throne of the country by a bloodless coup. His grandson, Khemet III, is often accompanied by his fire elemental advisor Janhelia, and some at court fear that the country is on the verge of becoming embroiled in the complex politics of the elemental clans.12
