As of 4724 AR, Belor Hemlock is the sheriff of the Varisian town of Sandpoint and leader of its town watch. He replaced the previous sheriff, Casp Avertin, who was killed by serial killer Chopper in 4702 AR

Relatives

Originally a member of the Shriikirri-Quah tribe of the Shoanti, Belor abandoned his heritage when he took on the role of sheriff, changing his last name from the Shoanti "Viskalai" to its Taldane translation of "Hemlock", much to the dismay of his brother Garridan.

Hemlock is married to Kaye Tesarani, the proprietor of Sandpoint's local brothel. Their prior relationship had not been public knowledge, though it was not as secret of an affair as either would have liked and further strained the sheriff's relationships with the more conservative and traditional families in town. Since their marriage, he has grown more reliant on Tesarani's aptitude in politics and public relations.
