A fruit leshy, a creature animated by a vitae.

Vitae1 are a broad classification of ephemeral creatures that are composed of and defined by their vital essence. They are sometimes erroneously referred to as "nature spirits", but are not considered to be spirits, which are creatures composed of and defined by spiritual essence.23

The most well-known examples of vitae are the precursor energies that combine with a spiritual essence to animate a leshy, despite their unique lack of quintessence.45 A leshy that loses its spiritual essence is sometimes also referred to as a leshy spirit.6
