Mathematics is the study of quantity, space, structure, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate new conjectures.1

Areas of mathematics

Mathematics can be divided into a number of areas of study, such as arithmetic and geometry.1

Some areas of mathematics once studied on Golarion have been lost to time, such as, non-uniform spatial mathematics, which was studied to an advanced level in Ancient Azlant around 10,000 years ago. Evidence for this was found on the King Xeros ether ship that docked in Absalom in 4709 AR.2

Religion

The religious symbol of Otolmens, the primordial inevitable of mathematics, contains a compass, a mathematical tool.
  • Abadar appreciates mathematics as necessary for ordered societies to function, especially in regards to fair taxation.
  • Brigh values mathematics very highly as it is the basis of engineering and design.3
  • Imot, the Symbol of Doom, is the psychopomp usher of mathematics and is worshipped by many mathematicians.4
  • Mammon is known to be a genius-level mathematician.5
  • Otolmens is the primordial inevitable of machinery, mathematics, and physics.6
