(Creature)

Fire giants are giants obsessed with war, combat, and the crafting of tools of war.12

Appearance

Fire giants bear flame-orange hair that moves like a dancing fire, and wear heavy armor of steel over dark red or black garments. The average fire giant is 12 to 16 feet tall and weighs around 7,000 pounds.12

Habitat and society

Fire giants are obsessed with the processes of war, more so than any other giant, from combat techniques, armor and weapon forging, to military tactics.2

Most fire giants prefer to settle close to elemental rifts, hot springs, and volcanic calderas, and are steadfast against any perceived invaders. Fire giant society is based on a militaristic and hierarchical societal structure.2

Fire giant children are fitted with armor as soon as they learn to walk, constantly being refitted as they grow.2

In addition to what they can smith, fire giants will also tame and weaponize dinosaurs, drake]s, and hell hounds.34

Rather then being forced out of their volcanos, flame drakes are begrudgingly willing to cohabitate with fire giants rather than be kicked out.3

Fire giants can turn iron wardens into a large suit of armor for others.5

Religion

According to fire giant folklore, over 10,000 years ago,6 Zursvaater came into being when, as the greatest volcano76 on Golarion—then called the Molten Summit,6—he sensed the presence of a stone giant clan climbing him and formed a humanoid shape from the mountain range of volcanic rocks and ash to speak to them. He offered them the secrets of metal and volcanic fire in exchange for their worship and souls, and they accepted, being then consumed by Zursvaater and spat out as the first fire giants.786 The fire giants call him the Prince of Steel, and he is depicted as a mighty, armored fire giant with a closed-face helmet, wielding a heavy chain in one hand96 and his red-hot adamantine greatsword, Blood of the Mountains, in the other.6

Zursvaater taught his children to leave their inter-tribal fighting, and instead focus their hostility on other races, insisting they focus on raiding others for additional war effort supplies.8610 He urges worshipers to conquer those weaker then them, to always enter any upcoming battles with a plan, and to maintain battle-ready weapons. His followers should not disrespect any skilled smith, nor say their power comes from anyone else but Zursvaater.610

On Golarion

Fire giants attack a town.

Tribes of fire giants dwell in the Mindspin Mountains of northwestern Avistan, where they have contact with tribes of azer and salamanders living below them in the volcanic Darklands region known as the Flume Warrens. Both races seek to ally themselves with the giants but so far have been rebuffed, as the fire giants prefer to play the tribes off against each other for their own advantage.11

On the far side of Golarion they inhabit the volcanic Chenlun Mountains of southern Tian Xia, where they are often ruled by powerful fire yai lords.12
