Illusion
This article contains information of uncertain canon status due to changes made in the Pathfinder Second Edition Remaster Project. Additional context might be available at Meta:Schools of magic. |
Illusion is one of the eight schools of magic practiced on Golarion.1 It deals with the creation of images, sounds, figments, or shadows, generally to confuse or deceive the onlooker. Wizards who specialize in this form of magic are known as illusionists.2[citation needed]

The lesser-known goddess Sivanah, also known as the Seventh Veil, is considered the patron deity of illusion magics, using it to cleverly conceal her own appearance under layers of obfuscation.3 Illusionists can be found as priests of her church, although those with different personal or philosophical outlooks can also be found among the clergy of Calistria or Norgorber.45
Shadow magic is considered a subschool of illusion magic.6[citation needed]
Sin magic
During the reign of the runelords of ancient Thassilon, illusion was associated with the sin of pride, and was therefore the specialty of Xanderghul, ruler of Cyrusian.7

- ↑ The Pathfinder Second Edition Remaster Project removed game mechanics for the eight schools of magic. In Player Core, wizards instead specialize based on literal schooling in their education's field of study, and the school of unified magical theory has equivalent mechanics as universalist wizards' practice of all eight schools. Details related to this subject might remain part of the setting canon despite no longer having mechanics supported in current publications.
