"The Walkers from the Crypt", a short story written by Howard Andrew Jones, was serialized as Pathfinder Tales web fiction in March 2011 and released as a compiled eBook in August 2011. The 4-part story is a prequel to Jones's novel Plague of Shadows, which follows many of the same characters decades later.

Elyana is an elven adventurer devoted to helping innocents escape the madness of revolutionary Galt. Together with her band of bold human companions, she is a powerful force for freedom, and one that many Galtan leaders would happily see tied up at the bottom of a guillotine. When one of their allies is gravely injured, it's up to Elyana and the wizard Arcil to buy time by leading the enemy on a wild chase into the dark depths of the Verduran Forest. Yet there may be more than anyone expects lurking beneath the forest's twisted boughs, and evils even greater than Galtan necromancers waiting to be awakened...
