Dragonbloods are a versatile heritage of people whose nature was influenced (typically before birth) by the presence or powers of a dragon. As a result, they were born with or gained draconic traits and an echo of their powers.

Appearance

Dragonbloods can be born of any ancestry, and each has a varying degree of draconic features. Those with more obviously draconic features—such as scales, clawed hands, tails, or wings—are sometimes confused for reptilian ancestries such as kobolds and lizardfolk. Others might have more subtle features, such as a slight sheen to their skin or small rounded horns. Many can expel a hazardous breath, much like a dragon.

Society

Dragonbloods are most common in places where dragons are most influential, such as Tian Xia, the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, or settlements where Apsu or Dahak are worshipped. Hundreds of residents of Hermea spontaneously transformed into dragonbloods during the Godsrain in 4724 AR. Each has a draconic exemplar, which refers to the type of dragon from which their dragonblooded nature is derived, and which influences their natural abilities.

Regardless of their outward appearance, dragonbloods are often also distinguished by their innately outsized personalities or natural aptitude for magic. Many have an inflated sense of confidence and self-esteem from the deference that others often show to them, or feel a need to live up to the greatness in their draconic heritage.
