A Decemvirate Helm is an artifact worn only by a member of the Pathfinder Society's leadership: the Decemvirate. The mask shrouds its wearer's identity and grants them telepathic abilities and protection from illusions, scrying, magical control, and lies. The artifact loses its magical powers and can be destroyed if more than five people wear it in a single day.12

Known Helms

Nine Decemvirate Helms are known to exist. A tenth, the Triple-Spire Helm worn by Vahlo Huovar, was destroyed by Pathfinders along with Huovar in 4719 AR.3 Each grants its wearer a specific height, gender, body, and ancestry tied to that Helm and resist divination attempts,4 allowing the Helms to be identified by their transformed appearances:

  • A woman wearing an ornately carved ivory mask decorated with inlaid runes, peacock feathers, and red crystal tears.54 As of 4719 AR this Helm was worn by Shemis.5
  • An androgynous member wearing a whorled black mesh wrapped around their face,43 with the voice of an Absalomian. This was the mask of Eliza Petulengro, who removed it in 4719 AR;3 its current wearer is believed to be one of the Pathfinders who defeated Huovar.6
  • An ornate armored metal helm with a false face and the antlers of a stag.74
  • A black domino mask studded with crystals7 with a silver-inalid headdress topped by a golden-ringed hole.6 This Helm was once worn by Veldrid Goldborough.8
  • A crowned helm resembling flowing water.94 It was worn in 4721 AR by the Decemvirate member known as Shrike,10 and in 4723 AR by the member known as the Waterfall.11
  • A sapphire-studded metal helmet covering a feminine wearer's upper face104 associated with the Decemvirate member known as Sapphire, who until 4721 AR was secretly Drandle Dreng.121314
  • A steel face mask with three eyeholes,9 each at the center of engraved whorls.4
  • A mask resmbling a thicket of gnarled, snow-laden branches.6
  • A flat red mask carved with bestial features, with a mouth of prominent teeth and fangs.6
