Heldren
The peasant village of Heldren is located in the Sophra Prefecture1 of southern Taldor, close to the Border Wood.2
History
Despite its proximity to Qadira, Heldren quickly recovered from the Grand Campaign after its end in 4603 AR due to its small size and well-organized town council. It was otherwise an unremarkable example of small towns in Taldor until 4713 AR, when the event would become known as the Heldren Freeze occurred.3
During the Freeze, portals created small pockets of perpetual winter weather in several parts of the Inner Sea region's midsummer, particularly one six miles southwest of Heldren, and disgorged invading winter-touched fey from Irrisen.45 The weather later stabilized, though winters in the area remain unusually harsh, and the region has become infested with ice scamps.6 Few in Heldren know of the town's resulting connection to the nearly identical Irriseni village of Waldsby.7

Heldren is the rural home to woodcutters, livestock herders, and farmers who are largely disinterested in Taldor's many political schemes and conspiracies.7
