Devil's Cut

Devil's Cut lies to the west of the city of Caliphas and is where most of the city's detritus washes up eventually. A festering inlet full of raw sewage, shipwreck debris from the Reaping Rock, and even industrial run-off, the Devil's Cut is a quagmire so thick one can almost walk on it. Scavengers, both human and distinctly otherwise, roam Devil's Cut picking over the muck for discarded valuables and unlooted corpses, but they are not alone. Rumours speak of foul, tarry things that lurk just beneath the muck, dragging down any who would intrude on their foetid domain.
