Barrier Wall

From PathfinderWiki

The Barrier Wall is the most extensive mountain range of northern Garund. They run in a general east-westerly direction, north of the jungles of the Mwangi Expanse. They stretch from southern Rahadoum in the west, through southern Thuvia and Osirion before turning south to form the western border of Katapesh. They end in the northernmost corner of magical Nex.1

North of the Barrier Wall the land is arid and dry, exemplified by the deserts of Rahadoum, Thuvia, and Osirion. South of the mountains the air is filled with moisture and rain is common, with the rainforests and jungles of the Mwangi Expanse the dominant geographical feature.2

Inhabitants

Due to the extent of these mountains, we can find many groups inhabiting the area. The druids known as the Stonewardens actively protect their home from mineral exploitation and guard portals to the First World near the center of the range in Thuvia.34 Kholo5 tribes are common in the eastern portions near Katapesh and Osirion,6 with occasional dragon sightings.7 The Barrier Wall's southernmost reaches are home to the monstrous, unnatural creations of the Nexian city of Ecanus' fleshforges.8

Soldiers from the fortress of Haldun help maintain the protective Rainwall. Many monasteries located in Osirion call these mountains home, like the monks of Tar Kuata or the Ouat dwarves. The legendary alchemist Artokus Kirran supposedly lives in the Citadel of the Alchemist, using the mountainous region as a form of natural defense.4 The ravener Arantaros also makes its home here.9
