River drake
River drakes are small amphibious drakes covered in fish-like scales, and are distantly related to dragons that rule oceans.123
Appearance
River drakes resemble river fish with glistening scales and sleek fin wings. They are smaller than most other types of drakes.2 A typical jungle drake is 8 feet long and weighs around 700 pounds.4[citation needed]
Abilities
River drakes can walk on land, swim, and fly. They can spit an exploding ball of caustic and sticky mucus.5
Like most dragons, river drakes can naturally see in the dark and detect nearby creatures by their scent. They are immune to being paralyzed, put to sleep, and resist acid. They can speak and understand Draconic.5
Ecology
River drakes are aquatic ambush predators equally at home above and below the water.12 They feed on a variety of prey, including fish, boggards, deer, and humanoids.12
River drakes are the most likely of drakes to hunt in groups known as rampages, which can quickly destroy a waterside village.67
