As of 4724 AR, Mhelrem Gesteliel serves as high priest of the House of Golden Veils, the Abadarian temple and largest bank in Kintargo, Ravounel.

Background

Under the rule of Cheliax, the House served as the house of worship for Abadar, but with few worshipers the temple primarily functioned as a bank. Those with a more lawful nature were drawn to the more powerful church of Asmodeus. As such, Gesteliel—who served as the House's high priest during this period—focused more on his deity's mercantile aspects by providing banking services and keeping a large stock of divine magic items.

During the Kintargan Rebellion of 4715–4716 AR, Gesteliel hesitated to support the Silver Ravens and Kintargo's rebels against Cheliax, a decision he later regretted since a different course of action might have reduced the bloodshed and ended the disastrous regime of Barzillai Thrune sooner. He continued to operate the House after Kintargo and Ravounel won their independence from Cheliax in 4716 AR.
