House Vashnarstill are one of the nine noble houses of the city of Kintargo that composed the once-prominent Court of Coin. House Vashnarstill are more loyal to the city of Kintargo itself than to the Chelaxian crown or House Thrune,1 even though the house was financially dependent on Thrune.2

Their business interests include fishing, trade with distant Arcadia, and shipbuilding; the Vashnarstill Shipyard in Yolubilis Harbor is named after House Vashnarstill.1 Scions of the house boast exceptional knowledge in a broad range of subjects.3

Background

Under Chelaxian rule, the House's trade contracts with Arcadia were managed by the Chelaxian government. At one point, the House's contract to import goods from Segada to Cheliax was transferred to a rival located in Corentyn.4

After the Kintargan Rebellion, the House's finances suffered further after House Thrune cancelled their trade contracts. Attempts to curry favor with the new Silver Council and independent Ravounel also failed due to the family's staunch adherence to Chelaxian traditions, which had become unfashionable post-rebellion.5

In 4719 AR, desperate House member Sedranni Vashnarstill then entered into a disastrous business relationship with the Scarlet Triad, a criminal organization of slavers. The gang murdered Sedranni's employees and terrorized her into compliance.67

By 4724 AR, however, the House's businesses had begun to recover. Sendi Vashnarstill negotiated new trade relationships with Arcadian interests,8 and Sedranni had rebuilt Sunset Imports.7
