Theories
Lorthact was a powerful infernal duke who has spent the last several hundred years hiding from the wrath of the Erinyes Queen in the guise of a mortal human.345
History
As an infernal duke, Lorthact swore allegiance to no archdevil and was rumored to directly possess Asmodeus' favor. However, in his ambition he concoted a plot in which he would usurp Eiseth, make her his consort, and take possession of her erinys army and part of Dis.5
Upon Eiseth discovering the plot, Lorthact became isolated—his allies abandoned him to avoid Eiseth's wrath, which forced him to flee her across planes until losing her in the Universe by taking the form of a mortal in the Varisian city-state of Korvosa.5
He soon drew the attention of Volshyenek Ornelos, founder of the Acadamae, and Lorthact tricked Ornelos into negotiating with him before replacing Ornelos entirely and assuming his form. After controlling the Acadamae for a century as Ornelos, he faked his form's death to continue hiding from Eiseth but resumed his control in secret.56
Home
Lorthact lives in Korvosa, where he has grown his power and influence over the centuries in the guise of Volshyenek Ornelos.4 He has many other guises, including the Unraveler, the Dwimmerlaik, the Ur-Magius, and the Diabolus Mystere.5
Appearance
In his natural form Lorthact is a medium-sized humanoid devil with five horns protruding from his forehead that bears a resemblance to a crown. He has bronze toned skin, black hair, cloven feet, and clawed hands. His sclera is a pale yellow with no visible iris or pupil.4
Relationships
Lorthact served as an advisor on magical subjects for the archdevils Geryon and Mephistopheles. He was once a consort of Eiseth, one of the Queens of the Night.4
Cult
Lorthact retains a small cult to whom he offers a small amount of unholy power.7
