Until his assassination in 4716 AR, Grask Uldeth was the mighty orc chieftain of the Empty Hand tribe of the Hold of Belkzen, and the greatest leader of the orcs since the near-mythical warlord Belkzen who first united his people during the Age of Darkness. Through his tribe, Uldeth controlled the ancient dwarven Sky Citadel of Urgir,12 and instituted changes to orc society that sought to increase its standing among the other powers in the region.3

After his assassination, Grask claimed his Deathright to enter the Crucible defeated the orc deity Zagresh and ascended to divinity himself.4

As a mortal

Uldeth and his Empty Hand tribe seized control of Urgir in 4692 AR and spent several years consolidating power and vanquishing their nearest rivals. In 4702 AR, Uldeth began to introduce fundamental innovations in the city designed to attract non-orc merchants and maintain a semblance of what in other cultures is considered the rule of law. He did this because he had come to realize that the traditional orc custom of raiding the neighboring nations of Avistan produced less wealth than trading with them might. This progressive thinking was dismissed at first by most orcs, but with time, the wealth generated by these trades began to change some minds.567

In 4716 AR, Uldeth was slain by a mysterious assassin, who plunged a sword into Uldeth's chest while he sat upon the Throne of Urgir. His chief advisor and majordomo Ardax the White-Hair, a rare orc to live to middle-age, cornered and killed the assassin within hours.8 Ardax effectively succeeded Uldeth as overlord of Urgir, though he initially refused the title of overlord and left Uldeth's remains on the throne.8 However, Ardax continued the reforms Uldeth had first introduced.9106

The identities of Uldeth's assassins remain unknown to all but Uldeth and Ardax, as they were hired in secret by Ardax on Uldeth's request for a violent death in order to claim his Deathright and challenge the orc deity Zagresh in the Crucible. Ardax had also foreseen a future in which Uldeth would return orcs under the service of Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant who had enslaved orcs in generations past.11

As a deity

Upon defeating Zagresh, Uldeth ascended into divinity to replace him among the orc pantheon. As a deity, Uldeth espouses definitive hierarchies and the idea that strength is both the means and right by which one can improve orcs.4

Uldeth demands absolute fealty from orcs and commands them to work toward the growth of their people's station, while also fostering negotiations with other peoples—with the exception of dwarves, whom Uldeth refuses to forgive for their past transgressions against orcs.12

Relationships

After attaining divinity, Uldeth immediately attempted to assassinate the dwarven deity Torag by striking his chest with a dwarven-forged axe, but failed due to the intervention of Uirch, another recently ascended orc deity who challenged and defeated Uldeth during the act.11
