Uirch the Reaved was an orc of the Burning Sun tribe and an ally of the Pathfinder Society1 who ascended through victory over Lanishra in the Crucible in 4724 AR to become the orc pantheon deity Uirch, the Bulwark.2

As a deity

Relationships

Prior to his ascension, Uirch petitioned the dwarven deity Torag for advice on how to best protect the defenseless. Torag agreed on the condition that Uirch must first ascend to divinity.3

After dying in battle, Uirch invoked his Deathright to the Crucible, challenged Lanishra, and defeated the god and his herald by calling upon and receiving Torag's aid. Upon Uirch's victory, both he and Torag announced their cooperation to their followers. The announcement was welcomed by some who wished to reconcile, but others rebelled against the concept; some orcs considered Uirch requesting any help, much less from a dwarf, as a sign of weakness, and many within Torag's faith also abandoned him as a result of his cooperation with an orc.4

Uirch later returned the favor by defending Torag against the recently ascended Grask Uldeth, who attempted to assassinate Torag before Uirch challenged Uldeth to a duel and defeated him.52

Talons of the Godclaw

Torag represented the Hellknight Order of the Godclaw's ideal of defensive combat6 in the Talons of the Godclaw pantheon prior to Uirch's ascension. Torag endorsed Uirch as his replacement in the pantheon, which coincided with an increase in orc enlistment within the order. Despite this change, those who worship the pantheon's original incarnation without Uirch still benefit from its divine powers.7
