Mog-Lathar is a fossilised Leng spider who has since awakened as an idol and established a cult around itself.1

History

Mog-Lathar slipped from the Dimension of Dreams to the Mindspin Mountains, via the weak veil between planes that resulted from the fall of a dreamstone during Earthfall. After it was slain by stone giants, its corpse settled and fossilised in the crater's sediment.2

In the Age of Lost Omens, Mog-Lathar's fossil was unearthed by Nahum Caligaro, Myra Lombroso, and Stainton Drune. It quickly gained sentience as an idol and began promising them immortality in exchange for freedom. They chiseled the fossil out, and as Nahum and Myra succumbed to Mog-Lathar's whispers, they abandoned Stainton, secreted it to the Bridgefront district of Korvosa, and established a cult around it.2

Cults

Mog-Lathar's cult, known as the Brotherhood of the Spider, has grown to more than 300 members and holds significant influence over Korvosa's shiver trade, using the profits to fund supplication ceremonies to Mog-Lathar. Its 20 most favoured worshippers become immortal and no longer need to eat, drink, or breathe.12
